The General Secretariat of the Sheba Prize for peace makers approved in their regular meeting - held in Sana'a – to Award the "Sheba Peace Prize in 2012 for a number of international political figures" in recognition of their persons and their countries and who have contributed their efforts in making and bringing peace to Yemen through the auspices of the application of the "Initiative Gulf" and overseeing the implementation, and on top comes five of the kings, sultans and the heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), led by Saudi Arabia's Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia as well as the rest of his brothers, kings, sultans, sheikhs of the Persian Gulf States, as well as the same award will go to the heads and leaders of the five Member States of the UN Security Council and the Secretary General of the United Nations, in honor of their essential role in bringing peace and stop the violence and in appreciation of their effective contribution in creating the atmosphere for the peaceful transfer of power after a whole year of stifling crises, that almost devastate the country.

It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, the Board of Trustees of the “Sheba Prize for peace makers " has granted this award in 2011 for a number of a Yemeni and international figures who have had a prominent role in peace-making and to spare Yemen slipping back into a catastrophic civil war, and the selected were the following:
1 - Field Marshal / Ali Abdullah Saleh - the former president.
2 - Field Marshal / Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi - the current President of the Republic.
3 - Dr. / Yassin Said Numan - Secretary General of the Yemeni Socialist Party.
4 - Mr. / Jamal Bin Omar - Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen.

According to the press release the place and date to honor these figures will be scheduled at a later time, according to diplomatic protocols established in this regard.
