“Maonah” Association said -in a press release issued today- that it strongly condemns and denounces the Yemeni authorities arrest of civil rights activist Dr. Adel Al-Shejaa and dozens of peaceful demonstrators today in Sana'a during their demonstration in a peaceful march demanding a change in government and are hiding them forcibly so far after they were confronted by troops of security and a large military and used against them live bullets and excessive force and lethal and live ammunition to disperse the peaceful demonstration which resulted some casualties and injuries ... “Maonah” Association considers the disposal of the government authorities of Yemen narrowing to freedom of opinion and expression and the government’s coup on the Gulf initiative and its chronic mechanism, Constitution and laws of Yemen, which guarantees citizens the freedom of opinion, expression and peaceful demonstration ....
The statement concluded that the Association is appealing President Hadi to immediately release Dr. Adel Al-Shejaa and all those detained with him, and hold an investigation of this arrest crime and to bring the Minister of Interior into trial .... And the Association calls upon all the people of Yemen to join the activities of the popular movement for peaceful restoration of the lost State of Yemen, of which first activities will be inaugurated by the end of the Gulf initiative and the legitimacy of the present regime cease, just on 22nd of next February ... The movement also call for general elections supervised by the interim government formed by the head of the current parliament and according to the constitution in force.
