Maonah Association for Human Rights calls upon the Attorney General and Minister of Interior and the Governor of the province of Marib to shutdown the CID prison in the province of Marib and accounting officials about the lack of the minimum limits to the rights of prisoners and the violation of its administration for the most basic human rights of the detainees

The Association received today, Tuesday, 15 / May / 2012 a complaint from the People's Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms and the development of society, "a local organization that human rights-based Marib" the organization monitored the following " by visiting the building Criminal Investigation Department in Marib and places of detention which where consisting of three rooms in the basement the organization found that it does not have good lighting and ventilation which are almost non-existent , it is a dark room there is no basic extensions columbine uninhabitable for human, lacking the minimum hygiene emit odors that abhors one’s self, which gives the injured detainees diseases and epidemics as a result of their stay in that room, especially the reserve a room that are used for those people for very long periods in violation of the provisions of the law .... etc. ".

The Association and on this occasion condemns and deplores the size of the violations perpetrated against the rights of prisoners by the CID in Marib without any legal justification, and the lack of the minimum limits to the rights of prisoners, especially in the absence of any judicial oversight over such offenses and the administration there, which it considers serious violations for human rights crimes, as it is not time-barred and should be held accountable by the officials.

And the Maonah Association statement calls on all international organizations and human rights bodies to condemn and denounce the gross violations of human rights guaranteed by all international covenants and conventions on human rights, which were explicit and prisoners should enjoy all their rights in accordance with the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations 43/173 of 9 / December 1988, as stated in Principle (1) All persons who are exposed to any form of detention or imprisonment shall be treated humanely and with respect for the dignity of the human person the original, the Association also called all organizations to call on the Yemeni authorities quickly to shut down the prison and other private prison and subject them to immediate judicial supervision and release of detainees within them without any legal justification .

Maonah Association concluded its statement by appealing to the Attorney General and Minister of Interior and the Governor of the province of Marib to close the prison at CID in the province of Marib, for violating the minimum standards for the rights of prisoners, rehabilitation and the investigation with the officials accountable for such violations in accordance with law.
