The Human Rights situation in Yemen - the past 24 hours: Tuesday, 7 / February / 2012

Killings:

• death of more than 50 insurgents from Houthi group and 20 of the Salafist Group elements, in two days clashes ,in the zones of Halis Department in Kashar Directorate and Abu-Dawar in Mustaba Directorate.

Attacks:

• armed men attacked the power station in Khormaksar area , and fired a barrage of bullets toward the station, then they embarked it and tied three employees who were present as they were severely beaten and one of the staff was shot in the stomach.

• The Elections High Commission Branch in Taiz governorate was subjected to a barrage of bullets by a security officer assigned by the Committee, and works in charge of the Election Commission branch.

• an armed gang attacked a car belonging to the carpentry and school supplies institution in Aden and hijacked 34 million riyals which was the salaries to the staff of the institution.

Kidnappings:

• in the governorate of Sana'a members belonging to the first Division set up an ambush on the (Hodeidah - Sanaa) line, with the support of some loyal sheikhs for "Major General Ali Mohsen," and resulted in the kidnapping of two tugboats that were loaded with Diesel material heading to the capital.

• An armed group of militants belonging to the Ahmar family kidnapped yesterday Red troops in a police officer next to the Police Hospital in Sana'a.

• In Hadramout, gunmen stormed into Baabood police station in the Middle of Mukalla city, security forces managed to regain the police station after an exchange of fire with the armed men that lasted for several hours, after that the gunmen fled away.
