AMHRI’ Participation in the Global South NGOs Platform General Assembly

Mr. Aziz Zaid, Vice President of the Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration (AMHRI), together with the accompanying delegation, participated in the General Assembly meeting of the Global South NGOs Platform (GSNP), attended by representatives of more than 150 United Nations ECOSOC-accredited NGOs, during which Mr. Fuad Karimli was elected as General Coordinator of the Platform.
During the meeting, held under the patronage of H.E. Hikmet Hajiyev, Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan on Foreign Affairs, the Association’s delegation congratulated Mr. Karimli and his elected team and presented them with a written briefing on the Association’s international legal and human rights advocacy efforts concerning the Iranian attacks against the Gulf Arab States, Jordan, and Azerbaijan, as well as calls for the implementation of international resolutions, foremost among them United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 and Human Rights Council Resolution No. (1/61) of 2026.
The Association affirmed that its participation in the Baku Platform comes in its capacity as one of the founding members of the Platform and reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen international civil partnerships and support respect for international law and human rights.
The Association’s delegation includes Mr. Aziz Zaid, Vice President of the Association, and Mr. Aws Mohammed Alaw, Regional Coordinator for the Middle East. The delegation is also scheduled to participate in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku from 17 to 22 May .
